Excel High School in South Boston could close at the end of the next school year as part of a larger plan to consolidate public school facilities, according to a letter sent to parents Monday.

In a statement issued Monday evening, Superintendent Mary Skipper said the closure of the Excel High School will be part of the Boston School Committee's Long-Term Facilities Plan.
