The main source for the story of Antigone is the homonymous tragedy by Sophocles, one of the three famous Greek playwrights, the other two being Aeschylus and Euripides.

In the play’s conclusion, the body of Antigone, who has been sealed in a cave and left to die by King Creon of Thebes, is discovered by her betrothed, Haemon, Creon’s son. Fuseli selects the climactic moment when Creon enters the cave to see Haemon draw his sword and take his own life in reaction to Antigone’s death.

2021年8月7日 · Antigone is a loving sister, whose undying love for her brother Polyneices forced her to defy Creon’s orders in order to give him a burial. After the order of Creon, Antigone decides to go against him, and fetches a plan to offer her brother his burial.

2017年5月15日 · Don Taylor’s direction to have a Creon-focused Antigone was a precarious decision, but a highly successful one. You have to see it to believe it. The story of Antigone (played by Juliet Stevenson) is about the recalcitrant title character who buried her dead brother thereby violating a decree set forth by her uncle, the new king Creon.

My sketches/notes for "Antigone" costume design. Æ. Bravo. Hubby dear's final drama exam got done last week and both of us heaved a sigh of relief (me more than him I guess!). For his final drama exam, hubby dear played the role of Oedipus Rex in the Greek tragic play of the same name by Sophocles.
