Aug 10, 2018 · This happened back in 1969 when archaeologists found Oklahoma's enigmatic mosaic floor with mysterious post holes. Soon after the discovery, a heated scientific debate broke out. Was the structure man-made or a natural formation? How old was the site? Some speculated it could be as old as 200,000 years.

Introduction. DURING the latter part of 1915 and the first half of 1916, the writer held the position of geologist in connection with the conservation work instituted by the U. S. Bureau of Mines, on oil and gas land belonging to the Indians of the Five Civilized Tribes in Oklahoma.

Jan 20, 2019 · Born of the hectic land expansion of the 1890's in Oklahoma and Indian Territories, Cushing in Payne Co. OK was founded in the heart of the Cimmaron River country where once vast cattle herds grazed on land leased from the federal government.

The town of Cushing is located in Payne County at the intersection of State Highways 33 and 18, sixty-nine miles northeast of Oklahoma City. The area was part of the Sac and Fox Reservation and included in grazing land leased by the Michigan-owned Turkey Track Ranch, with headquarters eleven miles north of the future townsite.
