That is why concrete is grinded "smoother" during an acid wash or staining. Yes you can clean it. But please show me a concrete floor with latex or epoxy that lasted more than 5-6 years without noticeable wear.

I would have recommended cleaning the concrete well first, removing all dust and dirt. I would recommend asking the hardware or paint department about applying a primer to the concrete before painting. I know if you want to paint the floor with acid that is a finish process of its own that looks beautiful. You can do it in different colors too.

2013年3月9日 · I'm thinking about painting my basement's walls with some concrete sealer (before finishing the basement) and floor with epoxy paint. Many people are doing that, but I'm concerned about moisture in the concrete. The outside of the walls are covered with some black stuff which is a moisture barrier.

I found I could get away with outdoor latex primer when resurfacing concrete with a thin layer of sand mix. I have also grown the technique using masonry screw drilled and placed into broken concrete which was then primed when Iwas faced with broken corners and edges of significant size. None have failed and it has been years.

2016年8月1日 · Gray and "terra-cotta red" seem to be more common choices for floors, but I find the white floor very nice (mind, I don't freak out about trying to keep it perfect.) If you are "soap and water washing" before paint, rinse, rinse some more, and rinse again - then dry throughly before painting. Soap residue is not good for paint.

I have an 80 year old basement concrete floor that recent had asbestos tiles and mastic removed. It is in good shape, with a few hairline cracks. I am planning on painting it. The basement is dry, but humid in the summer. I will use it as a laundry room/crafting/doing projects on the work bench. I see that a good bonding primer is recommended.

2020年9月30日 · This utility room is large, has two finished walls, and two walls that are poured concrete. It also houses the washer and dryer and these are also walls that are most susceptible to water. I normally wouldn't think about painting but I was told by my foundation guys that the city has a new requirement for hairline cracks - must be covered in epoxy.

2014年10月29日 · The concrete has to be cured about 30 days to apply concrete paint. But the room also has to be dryer than a normal basement. I would run a dehumidifier for a week or so before you paint or if you have heat in the basement turn it on. Some concrete paints need to have a primer/sealer put down if it hasn't been painted before.
