Many Nevada placer districts have the majority of their gold at or near bedrock, which can be a considerable depth. Research on the geology and history of the Districts can provide the information necessary to determine if the District is suitable for nugget shooting.

2016年2月10日 · Nevada is well known as the top U.S. producer of lode gold, but did you know Nevada also has placer gold deposits? Some of Nevada’s largest placer districts have produced hundreds of thousands of ounces of gold and silver, including some very large nuggets.

Northern Nevada is home to the state's best known placer field for nugget shooting with a metal detector, the Majuba or Rye Patch placer district. The area is located west of the Rye Patch Reservoir, about 45 miles north of Lovelock in Pershing County.

Yellow shaded areas are approximate boundaries of Nevada gold districts. Eighty-two districts are identified as having placer gold, even if very minor and with no recorded production. Of those placer districts, just 15 are considered significant gold producers.

Northern Nevada is chock-full of old active and inactive gold and silver mines. Whether adventurers wish to take a tour, learn about the industry, or try their luck panning for valuable ore, there is certainly plenty to do.
